Zimbabwe is a country of remarkable diversity—dramatic landscapes, abundant wildlife, ancient civilizations, and warm hospitality. Each region offers distinct experiences that together create one of Africa's most rewarding destinations.
Victoria Falls and the surrounding area is Zimbabwe's tourism heart, where the mighty Zambezi River plunges into a gorge creating one of the world's most spectacular waterfalls. The town of Victoria Falls serves as a base for adventure activities from bungee jumping to river rafting, while Zambezi National Park offers excellent wildlife viewing.
Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe's largest game reserve, rivals the Serengeti for wildlife diversity. Home to one of Africa's largest elephant populations, the park offers authentic safari experiences away from the crowds found in neighboring countries.
The Eastern Highlands, along the Mozambique border, reveal a completely different Zimbabwe—cool mountain air, pine forests, misty valleys, and hiking trails through Nyanga and Chimanimani national parks. The region produces Zimbabwe's tea and coffee, and offers a refreshing escape from the lowland heat.
Harare, the capital, serves as the country's cultural center with museums, galleries, vibrant markets, and a cosmopolitan dining scene. To the south, the ancient ruins of Great Zimbabwe—the largest stone structures in sub-Saharan Africa—speak to the sophisticated civilization that flourished here centuries before European contact.
