Full Day Zambezi National Park Golden Safari

Victoria Falls
Tour Rating 5.0
Overview

This golden safari is quite unique from other safaris such as the Chobe and Hwange National Parks day trips, due to the close proximity of the Zambezi National Park and Chamabondo National Park situated just six kilometres up river from the Victoria Falls. Chamabondo National Park is 8km south of the Victoria Falls town so there is no need for the long drive of 80kms to the over marketed Chobe National Park or 180 kms to Hwange National Park. There is an abundance of both animals and bird life is prolific particularly along the banks of the Zambezi. The following animals can be seen: lions, leopards, elephants, buffalos ,giraffes ,elands , hippopotamus ,kudus ,hyaenas ,waterbucks , sables ,warthogs ,baboons as well as many other species.

Reviews for Full Day Zambezi National Park Golden Safari
Excellent Safari and Customer Service

We booked this safari to round out our honeymoon, and even though January isn't a great time to see loads of animals, Eddie and Peter made the most of it. We booked the full day, and purely by bad luck, we didn't see many big animals -- just two elephants, some zebra and a handful of giraffes. Eddie felt so bad, because he had seen hundreds of elephants the day before, so he offered us a complimentary drive the next day for a few hours, where we then saw many more animals. This is the itinerary: 1. 4ish hours in Zambezi National Park in the morning, where you drive around and spot all kinds of wild animals and enjoy the views. Water and drinks are provided, and the car is covered from the sun. 2. A lunch cruise on the river. This was, by far, our least favorite portion of the day. The river is lovely, but the captain is exhausting. He calls himself Captain Fantastic, he never stops talking, and he is not exactly in tune with Western culture. He made my wife serve me my food and kept saying how she was doing well in her training and would make a good wife, then he piled on a bunch of honeymoon sex jokes that were just tiresome. He also kept pointing out things we clearly didn't care about, like the boat club and various hotels and restaurants, instead of just letting us enjoy the serenity of the river and observe the wildlife. He had good intentions, but it was incredibly awkward and we both immediately agreed it was the worst part of the day. 3. A drive through a different park, with manmade watering holes meant to lure elephants. (I believe they would take to you Vic Falls before this drive, but because we had already gone the day before, we skipped this.) 4. Dinner at a touristy (but entertaining) restaurant with drumming and dancing. Note: The food is paid for, but you cover all drinks. 5. Drop you back off at your hotel/lodge. All in all, a really positive experience, especially given the time of year. The only piece of advice to Eddie would be to educate or replace Captain Fantastic.

This safari is highly recommended.I went to Chobe National Park on a day trip and was a bit disappointed wanted to see wild dogs; zebras;buffallos among other species but was not so lucky.I then booked this after a friend reffered me.Eddie and his team were amazing.Peter our guide was knowledgeable and very professional.Saw hundreds of buffaloes;elephants; Zebras;Kudus;Elands;Giraffes;wilderbeasts;a pack of wild dogs with cute pups.We had lunch on a small boat on the Zambezi. The food was delicious. The evening was concluded by an afrocentric dinner fused with an African Drumshow called the Boma Dinner.I highly recommend this safari.
The Safari with Peter and Eddie was by far the highlight of our trip.

New to African Wild life & Game drives; this was our first, but phenomenal experience in one of large African National parks after Masai Mara & Kruger! Understood Zambezi & Victoria National Park’s together covers almost 56,000 hectares of sprawling forest encompassing Zambezi river that runs most of the length that this National Park covers; bordering both Zambia & Zimbabwe. Glad to be in company with Eddie, our Safari Captain/Guide who with his experience, knowledge & connections really amazed us & A Safari Ride to remember. In the 4x4 vehicle that could accommodate 10 pax; it was just me & my wife that morning. His working knowledge of wild animals, flora/fauna of African National park was more than handy, as we enjoyed, eagerly trying to spot wildlife from our 4x4 Safari. We could see Zambia at stones throwing distance from our Game Drive route. Having visited some National parks in India, Zambezi presented us totally different Wildlife experience. Apart from not being able to spot Lions, Leopards that are part of fauna there, we were lucky to sight most of the wildlife present there including Giraffes, Zebra’s, Impalas, Antelopes, water buck, wild Boars, Crocs basking in the sun on the Zamebzi river. Were eager to see African Elephants for the first time, but couldn't spot till then. Eddie wanted to make sure we wait lil more for an opportune time to see them and so did a de-tour, but we stumbled upon a challenge as our vehicle got stuck when he was trying to show Footprints left by Lions that had crossed there. Appreciable also were his good connections with staff/friends from rescue teams, perseverance to find network & to reach out for help brought us courage while we waited over 45 mins inside the thick forest. We heard more of his experience & also spotted helicopters hovering over the jungle. As we started our tour again, much to our & Eddie’s relief we could also spot herd of famous/wonderful African Elephants crossing in front on their way back after quenching their thirst & bathing at Zambezi river. Eddie showed great signs of is knowledge & experience of Game Drives to spot animals in their natural habitat, knowing pattern of their movements & timing they venture from their hiding, for water or prey, giving us a great tour of the Wildlife /Park. Prior to his Safari, Eddie also coordinated very well with his other contact who had taken us earlier in the morning for Sunrise River Cruise at Zambezi River so that we optimize our time available to do River cruise, Safari & Vic Falls Walk. It’s a must do for all wild life enthusiasts. There are various modes, Time options available to experience wild life safaris. Prepare with paraphernalia to spend good time inside the forest & enjoy the most! We recommend Eddie and book Africa Exodus Safari for such experience! It was time spent worthwhile that we enjoyed every bit.
Great!
