Reviews for Early Morning Half-day Chobe Safari
Chobe Disaster
Grover B
Chobe half day safari:
To say this safari was a disaster would be an understatement. First, the driver that picked us up at our hotel and drove us to the Botswana border was excellent, however, things went downhill from there. The second took us from the Botswana border to Chobe National park where another driver met us to drive the safari was just okay I think he must have considered himself the Botswana Sterling Moss.
The safari driver had some young lady with him who I assumed was his girl friend. They occupied the the cab seats where it was nice and warm while my wife and I sat above and behind the cab where it was still very cold. He gave my wife and I some blankets that appeared in a dire need of soap and water. While I realize he has to drive, my wife could have sat in the cab until it warmed up.
When we first met him he asked if we needed to use the bathroom and I said yes but it was locked and he made no effort to get the key so I had to go behind a bush later.
Instead of telling us what was going and pointing out birds and animals 90 percent of his conversation was with his girl friend. We had to do all the watching and ask questions if wanted his input. We never seen a lion, elephant or anything advertised in the brochure. And quite frankly that’s all he did. My wife and I are both in our mid to late 70s and I’m physically limited yet he never offered to help us climb in and out of the safari truck. He got stuck in the loose sand twice and another safari truck had to pull him out. On the second time we got pelted with sand and dust from the spinning tires on the tow vehicle. It is my opinion getting stuck was a result of his own making. Lunch was at our own expense which we didn’t mind but the place they took us to left a lot to be desired.
I definitely would not recommend this safari!
