Reviews for Birdwatching Cruise In Zambezi River With Breakfast
Best Start to the Day in Zimbabwe!

We had an extremely exciting morning cruise and with of the help of Cpt. Elias we were able to see Hippos, crocodiles (and baby crocs), river monitor lizard, two types of kingfisher, Egyptian geese, a fish eagle!, and numerous other amazing birds. Breakfast was lovely even though we are vegetarian. Altogether so good, we booked for the following day! Cpt. Elias has amazing eyesight so without him, we would have missed most of the birds and animals! Thankyou
Inadequate guiding.

I was disappointed by this. Generally when you go on a wildlife tour you expect your guide to have a decent knowledge of what you're seeing. But there was no guide, just a captain, who cruised around and largely left us to find and identify the birds ourselves. We pointed out a large owl which he hadn't noticed, and he confidently proclaimed that it was a Pel's Fishing-Owl, and that we were extremely lucky to be seeing this. Unfortunately, it wasn't. It was a Verreaux's Eagle-Owl (see photo). OK, it was still nice to see, but a lot commoner, and the difference is significant. I think we heard a Finfoot calling at one point, a difficult bird to encounter. But the captain made no effort to try to get us a view of it, instead leaving us to look at a Purple Heron, a bird which you can see quite easily in Europe. The breakfast was good, but for the price, I don't think that this tour was very impressive at all. I contacted Ra-Ikane to raise these points with them, but they didn't respond.
Old fashioned River trip

A lovely old fashioned feel to this excursion. This is a tailored r experience for a few guests, not one of the party boats. You can get in to see the wildlife from the backs of the Zambezi. Crocs, elephants, lots of birds, hippo and a lovely sunset. Knowledgeable and pleasant guide and captain.
Great way to start your day on the Zambezi.

Excellent crew, knowledgeable guides, lots of birds and other wildlife opportunities. So much calmer than the sunset traffic jams.
Bring your own binoculars.
Breakfast was OK but the fruit was old and soft.
Well worth getting up for the breakfast cruise with bird watching.

Sunset cruises mean a packed river. Sunrise cruises, on the other hand, mean that you have the river almost entirely to yourself. Breakfast was lovely, and we were the on,y couple on the boat. We saw hippo, crocodile, numerous birds, and beautiful views of a quiet river. It was a beautiful and peaceful morning activity.
