Day 3
Game Viewing safari in the Chobe National Park - the extended version
1 Stop
Chobe National Park
Experience two activities in the famous Chobe National Park and get the best of both worlds in specially adapted open 4x4s and by boat. This is one of those unique opportunities to experience some of the best up-close game viewing Africa has to offer.
You will be picked up from your Hotel at 05:00hrs for the transfer to Chobe National Park (Botswana) via the Zambezi National Parks. This is the choicest time of the day to encounter some of the parks big cats and other nocturnals on the one hour drive to the border through the Zambezi national park.
You will be at the Chobe National Park`s gate slightly before 06:30hrs to start the day with half a day game drive in the park. This gives you a good chance to get close to nature with specially adapted open 4 x 4 vehicles. Frequent lion sightings occur in Chobe, Eland, Sable, and Roan antelope are common at certain times of the year. Leopards are elusive but common in the area - you may be lucky! Drives are typically along the waterfront where game congregates to quench their thirst, with Lions often lying in wait or just dozing in the shade. Complimentary soft drinks are served throughout the trip while experiencing some of the best game viewing in Africa. The drive will continue until we break for lunch at about 12H30.
Lunch (served buffet style) will be at the Chobe Safari Lodge (or similar) and after lunch you will have some time to relax before the afternoon boat cruise on the Chobe River.
This is a three-hour cruise starting at 15:00hrs and ending at 18:00hrs. The cruise affords an opportunity to see a host of waders and water birds along with the ever present crocodiles and lurking hippos. Chobe is renowned for scores of large herbivores making their way down to the river to drink - most notably Cape buffalo and elephant. On the island, Puku and Lechwe are often seen and on the banks kudu, impala and water buck are common and; of course the African sunset from your boat on the Chobe river... Complimentary soft drinks are included on the boat, as well as tea and coffee and a light snack.
You will be at the Zimbabwe Boarder at 1900hrs for the transfer to your Victoria Falls Hotels. Again this is the best time to see the cats of the Zambezi National Park as they will be out and hunting. You will be at your hotel at around 20:00hrs in time for dinner and a well-deserved rest.
