Arrive at Victoria Falls airport, transfer to hotel where an escort will assist with check in. Sunset Cruise In the afternoon, take a Sundowner Cruise down the Zambezi River. There is no better way to end the day than to watch an African Sun slip down the horizon, while sipping drinks and enjoying light snacks. Birds, hippos and crocodiles are abound in their natural habitat.
Guided Falls tour Pick up from the hotel. Tour includes the visit to the Big Tree in the Park, the rainforest and the whole stretch of the falls which is close to 2 km. Drop at the hotel after the tour. There are several optional tours one can do in the afternoon. Firstly the stop at the “Big Tree”, ancient Baobab some 16 meters in girth, kicks off the tour with an explanation of the geology of the Victoria Falls. From the Livingstone View to the Devil’s Cataract, on to the Main Falls, past the Rainbow Falls and to the Danger Point, participants walk the full length of the Falls through the Rainforest, where they may catch a glimpse of bushbuck and other wildlife.
The Caprivi Strip, just 70kms west of Victoria Falls is a very interesting area. Not only does the Zambezi River form the borders of 4 countries here (Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia and Zambia) but this is also the location of one of Africa’s finest natural game reserves – the Chobe National Park. The added presence of the equally intriguing Chobe River (in one season the water flows downstream and in the other it flows upstream) brings a myriad of game and rare bird species to this natural wilderness. The Park boasts the Big Five and the river teems with hippos and crocodiles which can be viewed both from boats and safari vehicles. It is to this “animal paradise” that participants will be taken after an early breakfast at the Hotel. After an hour’s drive through the Zambezi National Park, quick border formalities are carried out into Botswana before proceeding into the national park. Chobe River cruises and Game drives have to be one of the finest game viewing experiences in Africa. With over 80 000 elephant in the park alone they are a very frequent sighting. Hippo, water birds, buffalo, crocodile and puku are also viewed from the river. Lunch is served at Chobe Safari Lodge.Activities: Game Drive & Boat cruise on the Chobe River. You will then be transferred back to Victoria falls and drop off at the hotel.
Road transfer to Hwange for approximately 2 hours, 185km. Arrive in Hwange and check in at Hwange Safari Lodge. After breakfast, depart by road to Matobo Hills via Bulawayo, the second largest city in Zimbabwe, after Harare. This is a 4hrs 30min journey, 321km. Arriving on time will allow time to tour the city. Proceed to Matobo Hills and check inn at the Lodge for overnight.
Activities: 2 activities for the day. Game drive in the Matobo Game Park, and rhino trail, optional activity will be a visit to the Recreational Park (Cecil John Rhodes Grave entry is $ 10).
This is a 4hr 30 min journey, approx. 340km. Check in at hotel/ lodge close to the ruins. Tour the Great Zimbabwe Ruins, that is an approximately 3hrs tour. Tour the Hill Complex, the museum, and the Great Enclosure. Return to hotel for overnight stay.
Depart Great Zimbabwe for Harare. This is a 4hr 30 min journey, approx. 352km.
Road Transfer to Kariba in the north from Harare, journey takes maximum 5 hours, approximately 366 km. Check in at hotel. Sunset Cruise Pick up from hotel for sunset cruise on Lake Kariba (the biggest man made lake in the world at the time of it’s construction in the late 1950s) The cruise takes 2 hours. Snacks and cash bar are onboard.
Transfer by boat across the Lake for approximately 30km on water to Matusadona. Tour includes game drive and game walk + lunch. Transfer back by the boat and drop off at hotel.
Pick up from hotel. Visit the Lake’s dam Wall, tour Kariba observation point. After tour, depart for Harare. Road Transfer to Harare in the South East Central, journey takes maximum 5 hours, approximately 366 km.
Although relatively young as cities go, the city has tremendous diversity in its historical and cultural composition. The tour takes in some important buildings in the city (e g Parliament House and the High Court), before proceeding to the Queen Victoria Museum, with its fascinating permanent and temporary exhibits of the country’s past and natural history. From the Museum, clients move on to the colorful Mbare People’s Market, crammed with handcrafted souvenirs of Africa. Abuzz with activity, here participants have the opportunity to bargain with vendors for their collectible handicrafts. The tour ends at the Harare Kopje, where it all began so to speak, when the Pioneer Column sent by Britain’s Charter Company first reached the site of the present day Harare, and hoisted the Union Jack on the Kopje “Hill” (small hill). From this vantage point, the participants will be able to reflect on the city fabric, and the impact of past racial divisions, which even today have an influence on the planning and physical composition of Harare. The tour takes approximately 3 hours.
